Caregiver Responsibilities:

• Assisting the client with activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including but not limited to assistance with bathing/showering, toileting, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
• Safely assisting physically unstable clients from bed, shower, tub, toilet, chair, floor, etc.
• Providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including laundering of client’s garments and linens, changing beds, doing dishes, and kitchen clean-up.
• Assisting in meeting nutritional needs by providing meal planning, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
• Transporting and accompanying client on walks, community trips, doctor’s offices, bank, hair salons, barber, etc.
• Providing companionship for the client including but not limited to talking and listening, reading aloud, and providing social and emotional support as needed.
• Promoting the client’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest and promoting a sense of well-being.                                
• Reminding client to take self-administered medications.
• Assisting the client with ambulation and transfers as specified in the Plan of Care.
• Observing and reporting any changes in the client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation to the Quality Assurance Coordinator in a timely manner.
• Establishing and maintaining effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
• Participating in in-service and continuing educations programs, staff meetings, and client conferences as requested.
• Completing required documentation of services delivered and submitting to the office in a timely manner according to policy.
• Using equipment, supplies, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintaining client confidentiality regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).

Caregiver Requirements:

• High School Degree, GED, or equivalent
• Must possess interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly, professionally, and effectively communicate with their clients and coworkers.
• Must be able to comply and provide verbal and written instructions and be able to clearly document the services provided.
• Possess reading and writing skills.
• Ability to function in a home setting with minimal direct supervision and maintain satisfactory working relationships with clients and family members.
• Self-motivated and with excellent time management skills.
• The ability to prioritize and multitask projects.
